About the ministry of Labor of Love:

Labor of Love Ministries is a non-profit corporation formed to operate New Beginnings Christian Maternity Home and Choices for Life Pregnancy Center.

New Beginnings Christian Maternity Home has been operating since April, 1999. Previously, New Beginnings operated under Life Ministries Foundation, which is a private Foundation formed by Dr. James Holehouse and Dr. Michael Rollins, who provide obstetrical and gynecological care in Morgantown. Dr. Rollins and Dr. Holehouse had a vision for a maternity home in Morgantown due to the large number of young women facing crisis pregnancy situations which they would see in their practice. In 1997 a home was purchased by these two physicians, and in 1999 the doors finally opened.

Judy and Terry moved into New Beginnings in 1999 as the first house Parents and Judy as Executive Director.  With this new ministry, the Sloane’s agreed to come into the home as volunteers.  Terry maintained his job as an Assistant Principle and Judy ran the day-to-day duties of the home, as well as serving as Executive Director of the ministry.  The Sloane’s continue to volunteer in the positions of House Parents and Executive Director.

In 2001, Come Alive Ministries (operating the Morgantown Crisis Pregnancy Center), approached New Beginnings about the possibility of merging the two ministries together. Come Alive Ministries had been experiencing difficulty in filling the position of Director. Due to the fact that these two ministries were “sister ministries”, it seemed a likely fit. Plans were made to move in that direction.

In March, 2002 Come Alive Ministries ceased to operate. All materials and furnishing were distributed to New Beginnings for use in the soon to be formed new corporation of Labor of Love Ministries. It was decided there would be a new name to for the pregnancy center and a new approach would be taken to rebuild.

In 2006, Labor of Love Ministries once again stepped out in faith and opened our ministry and our hearts to a new endeavor... taking over the closing Maranatha Christian Academy and incorporating it into our ministry... thus, we created The Lighthouse Christian Academy. The Lighthouse is a small Christian School with a special missions outreach to pregnant teens and single mothers who want to complete their high school education.

Labor of Love Ministries received our official corporation papers filed in Monongalia county on July 29, 2002. We are a 501( c )3 entity recognized by the IRS.
